Not only did I think of the movie se7en, but the Talented Mr. Ripley as well. Their acts are meticulous and purposeful, they may be deranged but there is an end to the means.

Another great read. Nice analogy.

I love reading your posts. . .now I don't want to post my blog! You pretty much covered it. Can I just say "ditto" ?? and call it a night?? Great post.

Actually Jonesiemooker. . . .it does, that is why it is the epitome of a satire. Life of Brian is a beautifully written satirical comedy which Mike may or may not have gone into great detail but nonetheless still poses the insight that, yes, this movie does challenge everything! And I find it very interesting that just because he states the universal obiviousness of this fact you think he is not religious??? Interesting.

Agreed! This was a difficult book to cover, I found myself going off on tangents galore! All of the blog topics/choices could be intertwined but then it wouldn't be a blog at all . . .it would be another book! . . .I don't know if you look like a Suzy. . .ha!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I know I've been out of the loop while I was gone. . .so I don't know how others feel about Jasmine, but I feel comfortable in stating that she will probably move to CA and realize she is in a similar predicament, and leave. (possibly Jamina off to Mexico) I wanted to tackle this topic but found myself getting more and more pissed at the main character. I thought her to be very selfish and at times self-righteous. She says she knows what it is to be an American. . .but everything she has defined is a hasty generalization, she might as well thrown in that we all live on the beach and drive monster trucks! I don't think what she defines is being American, as more as being human. But it's also very key to remember that she is a teenager. I think you put it perfectly in your previous post, “Tragedy changes you, but it does not give you common sense or make you an adult. And it does not give you license to view caring and attachment as a one way street.”
Great blog Nate, . . .as usual.

Love the title! I enjoy great and creative "hooks!" I see you took the football approach. . .ha! I think, out of all the sports, it probably has the highest percentage of fans with "peter-pan syndrome!" Love the visual of the "40s" near the park, that made me smile.

A Datsun 510 huh. . .I used to have a 710 and we called it the "green booger". I grew up in the North State and have many friends that ride professionally. . .although I gave up cycling on a daily basis, I still had seven bikes till I moved to Chico. Was able to sell a few of them to collectors. But anywho, welcome to the North State. . .and trust me if you think Chico has a lot to offer outdoors you should travel north!!
